Class Descriptions:
Buddhist Meditation
Class - This class welcomes people of all faiths
and beliefs. The first part consists of a relaxing guided meditation to reduce
stress and cultivate inner peace followed by a presentation of Buddhist Philosophy aimed at helping participants discover
the source of their stress and unhappiness. Because Buddhism is by it's very
nature non-evangelizing, people are free to take whatever they feel is useful from the teachings and leave the rest.
Eclectic Hatha Yoga
with veteran teacher Sally Watson.
Sally blends her vast knowledge
and experience with some of the best teachers of our time into her own unique style. Sally's classes focus on alignment
within short flow segments. All levels are welcome.
Gentle Therapeutic Yoga - A gentle practice geared toward those who cannot tolerate intense physical activity. Emphasizes gentle physical movement, restorative postures, breath, and meditation.
Life Balance Yoga - Developed by yoga teacher, occupational therapist, and Living Room Yoga owner, Stacy Renz, Life Balance Yoga is alignment-based and emphasizes
the individual's needs even within the class setting. Participants are given the opportunity at the start of class
to examine "how it is in the body right now" to determine what kind of practice will best benefit them that day. Level
1-2 classes offer the basics for beginners along with opportunities for greater challenge for the more
experienced practitioner. Level 2-3 classes can be quite challenging in terms of strength,
stamina and flexibility, but less experienced practitioners are given options for modifying to their current level.
Life
Balance Therapeutic - This class is like group occupational therapy in that it is geared toward helping you with
physical issues, stress, or any other issues you are experiencing. Includes a 20-minute relaxation/meditation at the
end.
Prenatal Yoga - Cherish your pregnancy and enjoy
the camaraderie of fellow mom’s-to-be as you develop strength, courage, flexibility, and calm in preparation for childbirth. Find relief from common discomforts associated with pregnancy as you take time to
relax, release, and attune to your body and your rapidly growing baby within. More ...
Restorative
Yoga - Utilizes supported
yoga postures and deep stretching to "turn on" the parasympathetic nervous system (our internal calming mechanism) and "switch
off" our sympathetic nervous system (our "fight or flight" mechanism). Ideal for those dealing with chronic stress or
who would benefit from a deep sense of relaxation (in other words, all of us!).
Yoga for Beginners with John Ingraham - (Begins Tuesday Dec 1 at 6pm).
This class is geared to help beginning yoga students develop confidence and a solid foundation in the basic
yoga postures.
Yoga for Stress and Anxiety (a Life Balance Therapeutic Class)
Ideal for those with anxiety, chronic muscle tension, and insomnia. Also great for beginners and those working
with an injury. Uses long slow stretching, breathing, and meditation to help you manage your stress symptoms, relieve
